Note: These concepts do not always follow a linear path, but they represent key steps and concepts to consider on the journey to scale.

Start with a Big Idea

Designing for scale requires two starting elements:

  1. A Big Idea: A conservation solution that has the potential for significant impact.
  2. A Vision: Envision a world where your Big Idea has reached its maximum potential. Ideally on a regional or global scale, representing an ambitious vision for the future.

<aside> 🌿 The Nature Conservancy utilizes a Theory of Change framework to outline how to progress from the current state of your Big Idea (here) to the distant Vision of its full potential (there), including identifying key assumptions along that path.

Your Theory of Change should be regularly reviewed and adapted. Strive for a balance between brevity and detail, simplicity and specificity. KSA-3
